Life Legacy
Carolyn J. Adkins, 60, of Newport, OH, died, February 18, 2010, at the Riverside Hospital in Columbus, OH. She was born, February 26, 1949, in Lorain, OH, a daughter of Frank and Betty Wilson of Newport, OH. She served in the U. S. Marine Corp and was a member of the American Legion Post 159 in Williamstown, WV.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her children, Tammy Rutter and her husband, Thomas of Newport, OH, Jimmy L. Bird, Jr. and his wife, Sarah of Marietta, OH, and Denver Bird and his girlfriend, Melinda Davis of Newport, OH, eight grandchildren, Ashley, Koty, Kayleigh, Jonna, Chase, Jesse, Justyn, and Jaden, one great granddaughter, Emma, seven step grandchildren, Elijah, Isaiah, Joshua, Jeremiah, Noah, Tabitha, and Sarah, two nieces, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy L. Bird, Sr., her second husband, Ivin Adkins, and a sister, Patricia Cline.
Services will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at 11 A. M. at the Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV with Pastor Byron Bufkin officiating. Interment will be in the Matamoras Cemetery, New Matamoras with military graveside rites. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P. M. Monday at the funeral home.
