Biography

Franklin D. Eckart, 84, of Belmont, WV, went to be with the Lord, July 19, 2010, at Heartland of Marietta, OH. He was born, April 20, 1926, at Spring Run, Pleasants County, WV, a son of the late Charles W. and Mary Riggs Eckart. He was retired from American Cyanamid after 40 years, was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Parkersburg, WV, and attended Marietta Bible Center for several years. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a good father and he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and reading, especially the Bible.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Maxine Howard Eckart, one daughter, Cynthia McVey and her husband, the Rev. William L. McVey of Canal Winchester, OH, grandchildren, Diana Joy McVey Copen and her husband, Blair of Lucasville, OH, and William Jason McVey of Middleburg Heights, OH, two great grandchildren, Taylar Copen and Christian Copen both of Lucasville, OH, and several nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanne Wilson and Mary Louise Eckart, and a brother, Clarence Eckart.

Services will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at 11 A. M. at the Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV with Pastor Harry P. Ramsey officiating. Interment will be in Pleasants Memorial Estates, Eureka,WV with military graveside services. Friends may call from 6 to 8 P. M. Tuesday, and from 10 to 11 A. M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
