Biography

Harry Leo Sigler, 92, of Schultz Community, Pleasants County, WV, passed away, March 28, 2012, at his residence. He was born, November 26, 1919, at Schultz, a son of the late Harry Leo, Sr. and Cassie Morrell Sigler. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church, and was a member of the St. Marys Lodge #41 A. F. & A. M. He was a graduate of St. Marys High School and had attended Furman University for 2 years. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II, where he received the Bronze Star in Germany, and he also served in the U. S. Air Force. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He had worked in the oilfields, where he had been a drilling supervisor. He had been employed by Pleasants County Schools as a bus driver. His hobbies included woodworking, hunting, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Phyllis Maston Sigler, children, Cooper Sigler, Jim Sigler (Shirley), John Sigler (Fonda), Bill Sigler (Wilma Jean), Wade Sigler (Pam), Richard Sigler (Bridget), Louwannah Jemison (Bill), Ginger Marks (Paul), twenty-seven grandchildren, forty-eight great grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, two foster grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lonah Colleen Cummins, a grandson, Mark Anthony Jemison, a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Sigler, and an infant brother, Howard Sigler.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012, 11:30 A. M. at the Willow Island Cemetery, Willow Island, WV, with Pastor John Barker officiating. There will also be military graveside rites. Friends may call from 9 to 11 A. M. Saturday at the Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasants County Public Library Fund, % Pleasants Community Foundation, 309 Second Street, St. Marys, WV 26170, or to one’s favorite charity.
